The mythological movie is about Vasavi (Suhasini), an avatar of Goddess Parvathi (Meena).
A Gandharva (Sai Kiran) is blessed with a boon by Lord Shiva. He misuses the boon and uses it to woo a Vysya woman and harasses her. The Vysya woman prays and reaches out to Goddess Parvathi who curses him and says he has to wait to be born as a human.
The Gandharva is born as Vishnu Vardhan Sarvabhouma, the great grandson of the Pandavas. After a victory march, he takes rest in the house of Vasavi, sees her and proposes to marry her. Failing to have convinced her, he wages a war against the Vysya community. Vasavi decides to remain a kanya and do a agni pravesam for the sake of her community.
Vasavi tells her community members to follow dharma, not to harass the poor, contribute to charity and temples and treat women with respect. She tells that she is taking the step not of fear but to avoid bloodshed.
